  Introduction

Established in November 2006, the Sports Medicine Department was created to address the medical needs of Shenzhen’s athletic population and align with advancements in sports medicine under the guidance of hospital leadership. Initially led by Director Lu Wei, the department started with 24 beds and a team including prominent physicians such as Liu Haojiang, Ouyang Kan, Zhu Weimin, and Liu Haifeng. Over time, it has grown into a nationally recognized key specialty platform, with a team of 12 specialized doctors and five subspecialties.

The department now includes 30 medical staff members, among whom there are three with senior professional titles, four with associate senior titles, six holding doctoral degrees, and four with master’s degrees. Currently, the department operates 31 beds and is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including an integrated operating room, high-definition arthroscopic systems, orthopedic traction beds, spider arms, and the Biodex isokinetic testing and training system.
